There is something on the run affecting our children. 1 of 88 children in the United States has autism spectrum disorders (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Many children live their lives with the challenges of autism. They go to school with autism, play with autism, love with autism, talk with autism, and they run with autism. Join this community and run with them. On October 12, be a part of something remarkable, be a part of "Autism on the Run." MAPSS (Multilevel Applications and Positive Support Services) is celebrating the autism community of Kern County by creating a fun, community active event to raise autism awareness with a 5K called, "Autism on the Run." This is a family and autism-friendly 5K inviting runners and walkers alike at the starting line. Money raise will to H.E.A.R.T.S Connection, an active family resource center, determined to increase autism awareness so that the community may be "comfortable with, and accepting of people with special needs." MAPSS is excited to partner with H.E.A.R.T.S Connection to reach this common goal. Also, through "Autism on the Run," we hope to rally more organizations and individuals who share in the same vision. "Autism on the Run" will take place at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) at 10am. The 5K is untimed, and participants are welcome to fall between the spectrum of walking to running
