Historic
Campbell California is a city that's recognized what it's got, and
proudly shows off its assets that were once barely noticed. The downtown
shopping district, for instance, has become the center attraction for
Oktoberfest celebration, and what better place to enjoy good food,
family, friends and even some beer than in a Bay Area city located in
the heart of Silicon Valley.
Campbell
Oktoberfest is sponsored by the Campbell Chamber of Commerce. It
includes approx. 100 vendors, food booths with both German style dishes
(bratwursts, sauerkraut, pretzels, etc.), and plain old hot dogs the
kids will like. In addition, there are arts & crafts booths, community
groups represented and live entertainment.
Drawing
over 40,000 people to the streets of Campbell, Spaten Beer reps will be
pouring the drafts, people will take to the streets or the shady tents
to dance the polka or a chicken dance, and the kids may delight in a
little accordion music, something rarely seen on MTV.
Oktoberfest is a bit old fashioned in its musical themes, its clothing
and its traditions. But like Historic Campbell, Oktoberfest has been
around a while (nearly 200 years), and some traditions simply are worth
keeping. In California, there are probably over 100 Oktoberfest events,
festivities and celebrations. You'll find them at the beach, in the
mountains, and even in high tech regions such as San Jose / Campbell.
