Registration

The earlier you register the better. For the 5k races, it's $20 if you preregister more than two weeks in advance, $25 if you preregister two weeks in advance, and $30 at one week. The 10k races follow a similar scale at $30, $35, then $40 if you register a week before. There will be no registration on the day of the race, so be sure to sign up early at Santa Monica Boardwalk 5k/10k Website!

The Rules

Given that the boardwalk will not be shut down for the race, we ask that you please be courteous to other runners and/or walkers by staying as far to the right as you can. Also, water will only be given out at the beginning and end of the race, so be sure to arrive early and grab some before you start! Our races are fun, friendly, and easy flat routes. Keep in mind many beginner runners will be present and our main focus is to have fun & enjoy the beautiful ocean views!

The Route

Both races start at 8am on the boardwalk in front of Perry's Cafe at around 1200 Santa Monica Place. Our run has usually less than 100 people, so try to get there around 15 minutes early to make sure you spot other runners. Both routes are designed by race veteran, Matt Hackney, and are sure to give you a meditative experience to set a personal record or just enjoy the relaxing ocean.

Route Details

The 10k weaves through Santa Monica's most historical attraction, the Santa Monica Pier and continues along the bike path in front of hotels, volleyball courts, and more beach attractions. It's a windy but flat course that stretches all the way to the heart of Venice Beach. The 5K goes in the opposite direction and personally I feel is a more serene run in that there is hardly any traffic. It is just as beautiful as the 10k and is an out-and-back course ending at a beach overlook.

Why We're Here

We've been hosting races for years and use our funds to help teach low-income children ballroom dancing. This helps keep them off the streets, teaches dignity & respect, and of course dancing! You can see our project as we build it here: www.movdance.com - we are always happy to have volunteers help with the dance program is you are interested, just ask. And thank you so much for running with us, we really appreciate it!

Additional Notes

We host much different running events than most you are probably used to. We have the smallest carbon imprint possible and this is our highest priority when designing a race. We offer an extensive calendar in the Southern California area and provide coaching as well. Most races are attended by walkers, joggers, and tourists who want to experience the beautiful views. We host great runs that many use for practice for bigger runs or simply to help them get in great shape. Goodie Bag To get your goodie bag, you will need to register for the race through our website. The goodie bags are electronic and are only given to those who register straight through our site. We include weight loss guides, exercise DVDs, and more!
