CARLSBAD - Legoland Tree Lighting. Lego Christmas Tree Lighting is a 30-foot Christmas tree made from LEGO bricks. The world’s largest Lego Christmas tree lights up Legoland California at 5:30 p.m. followed by nightly tree lightings until Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. A selected guest pulls the switch lighting the 30-foot-tall tree built with more than 245,000 DUPLO® bricks. DEL MAR - Holiday of Lights Drive Thru. Head to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for a spectacular lights show visible by car. This event is one of the most popular holiday displays of the season. Runs nightly through Jan. 3, 2010. Time: Daily at 5:30 p.m. Ends at 10 p.m. Sun-Thurs; 11 p.m. Friday & Saturday. Cost: $14 car of 6 people or less; $19 more than 6; $49 bus. LONG BEACH - Crystal Ice Skating Outdoor Rink. New in 2009 for the holidays, daily skating at The Pike is held in the grass area. LOS ANGELES - Downtown on Ice at Pershing Square. Biggest rink and cheapest price, according to the city of Los Angeles Parks & Rec department, which invites you to come skate amidst the skyscrapers. SANTA ANA -  The Science of Gingerbread. Kids' imaginations can run free as they explore gingerbread, and learn that there's science in every bite! The annual gingerbread exhibit is one of the seasonal delights, along with this year's Mexico: Festival of Toys exhibit showing popular toys in Mexican culture.
