Los Padres National Forest contains most of the mountainous terrain including the Santa Ynez Mountains along the coast and the Sierra Madre Mountains which reach over 6000 feet in elevation. The forest is home to several wilderness areas such as the San Rafael and Dick Smith Wilderness Areas, and is home to many endangered animals. There are plenty of outdoor activities in which people can take part such as hiking and camping and even fishing at Lake Cachuma. Santa Barbara County also has cultural offerings. Several Spanish missions are in the county such as Santa Ines, La Purisima, and Mission Santa Barbara. Santa Maria, the largest city in Santa Barbara County, is home to several vineyards and wineries, delicious barbecue, and the well-known Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Santa Barbara is a popular tourist destination, with historical Spanish buildings and architecture as well as arts and crafts fairs, the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens, the Santa Barbara Museums of Art and Natural History, El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park, and the annual Summer Solstice Parade.
