Golfers will enjoy a round of golf on the famous courses of Pebble Beach and other golf resorts in the Carmel-Monterey area. Fans of the coast will enjoy relaxing at any of the scenic beaches that dot the Monterey shoreline. The county has many state facilities on the coast to visit for hiking and beachcombing so consider stopping at Big Sur State Park, Moss Landing State Beach, Garrapata State Park, Julie Pfeiffer Burns State Park, or Point Sur State Historic Park. If you enjoy the outdoors consider visiting Pinnacles National Monument, Los Padres National Forest, Salinas River National Wildlife Refuge, White Oaks Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, or walk part of the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. In addition to many of the state parks there are other public campgrounds along the coast and in the Monterey County mountains. It's hard to beat the views of a drive along scenic Highway One from Monterey through Big Sur. Other must-see sites in Monterey County include the Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, Spanish Missions, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Tassajara Hot Springs Resort which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day to stay at and soak in.
