Rocky Point near Ocean
Boulevard at the harbor channel is a scenic beach that children and adults love
to wander along and look at the ocean's treasures. Located in Corona del
Mar, a community of Newport Beach, this beach is one of the many beaches in
Newport Beach in its crown jewel.
On a warm winter's day,
the temperature hovers around a pleasant 70 degrees, though the water can
dip to 58, requiring wetsuits for surfers. Summer temps are about 5
degrees warmer in the air, and 10 to 15 degrees warmer in the water.
While Corona del Mar is
mostly residential, it attracts a huge tourist audience. The beaches, cliffs
and vantage points are so scenic, romantic and inspirational, as one
lookout, Inspiration Point, attests, word has spread throughout the world
that this is spot to visit on trips to California. On our recent visit, we
saw many Japanese, Italians, Germans and travelers from Oregon, Nevada, New
Jersey and Arizona, all touring Corona del Mar as part of their California
experience.
