Marriott Coronado Island Resort
2000 SECOND STREET
CORONADO, CALIFORNIA 92118
UNITED STATES
View, view, view, view, view. From bay to bridge, this resort has nearly
every vista you can imagine. If you think you've seen it all, then
don't forget to look at the flamingos as you pull your car up to the valet
service in front of the hotel. The way the sun reflects on a cascading
waterfall fountain and spills into a huge pool where flamingos feed, the
colors richly melt into a liquid pool of Renoir pinks, aquamarines and golds.
The hotel is a visual feast of water views, reflection pools, swimming pools
and the Pacific Ocean. For photographers, it's a place to take your
color film and go crazy.
The hotel-resort has the
feel of a family vacation land with the ferry boat ride only two blocks away,
surreys for rent, tennis courts, swimming pools, shops and a busy atmosphere of
people moving here and there. On the day we visited, a wind whipped along the
bay and caused an apparent outdoor function to be relocated inside.
Coronado can be warm and lovely and often is, but does get winds from time to
time, as well. Be prepared with a jacket and long pants, but bring the shorts
and swim suits, too.
