California Dining & Cuisine

The Cheesecake Factory in California includes 25 restaurant locations ranging from San Diego near the Mexico border in Southern California to Sacramento in Northern California. With a unique menu that includes extremely glossy high quality print ads of jewelry, cars and other items on the left column of a bound book, the menu seems huge. But after you get through the fancy ads and noise, your realize its not that daunting to get through. Broken down into appetizers, entrees, burgers, salads, desserts and specials, the menu includes American, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Chinese and possibly several other cultural bends in the blends.

A restaurant insider confided that The Cheesecake Factory does chicken dishes best.  Upon that recommendation, I skipped the salads on my latest trip and opted for a hearty Mexican taco plate with caramelized onions, guacamole and black beans. As usual, I had more than enough food and was not disappointed.

I've yet to save room for dessert at the restaurant named for its delicious bakery items. Like everything else, the serving sizes are large and are made in tall proportions.

It's odd that I've had to talk two people into dining at this fabulous restaurant with me. Each apparently had less positive dining memories at locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Perhaps the location and variety of ethnic foods served there makes you jaded. But when I convinced each person to give it a try, one in Marina del Rey and the other in Huntington Beach, both dining partners were delighted. I also grabbed a late night salad on a recent outing to Beverly Hills and found the dish just perfect for a late night meal.  I'm sold on The Cheesecake Factory and will dine there alone if necessary. From the sales figures of new store openings, The Cheesecake Factory is doing very well, thank you. Though unconfirmed, I heard rumor that the new restaurant at a recently launched mall re-opening, earned $1.5 million in its first month there! Not too shabby, if true.

Prices range from around $10 to 40 with the average bill (no wine or dessert) around $20/person.
