This seaside scene includes a village with shopping and hotels, beaches for sunbathing and kayaking, beaches to watch sea lions and seals, and a laid back atmosphere. The biggest shopping mecca and closest thing to a big city is down the road south in San Luis Obispo. In San Simeon, guests can book hotels and stay overnight for touring the castle. A city nearby, Cambria, does offer boutique shopping, gourmet dining and activities and events throughout the year.
