Sercotel - Salinas, CA's Beach Vacation Chain Hotels
Salinas Beach Close Vacations
Salinas has come into its own as a destination. Recognized as the Salad Bowl of the nation because the majority of lettuce and vegetable crops come from this rich growing region, the farming remains one of the city's and Monterey County region's top assets. While the farm lifestyle was documented by John Steinbeck, who is featured in a world-class Steinbeck Museum, you'll find that Salinas is growing. Much to the chagrin of some who hope it will never change, the pent-up demand for housing is causing it to grow. As such, you'll find more hotels now, more upscale restaurants, and great shops. While most passing through are on their way to Monterey and Carmel, it's worth considering booking a room in Salinas and exploring its treasures. We did that recently and found it added depth to our appreciation and understanding of the Central Coast, California. Annual events in Salinas include an Airshow of antique and historic airplanes and craft. It's probably one of the biggest events in the region and is held usually in the summer.
