Pacific Grove is not completely distinguishable from its friendly neighbors in the Monterey bay area, but once you become acquainted with it, you'll discover it offers that favorite walking path along the bay that tourists are attracted to. While big beach cities in L.A. offer stark settings with lots of glaring (beautiful) sand and jets passing overhead, Pacific Grove is peaceful with pines, rocky shorelines and a really blue bay view. The Pacific Ocean seems incredibly blue in this location, and it makes for excellent photographs that tourists take. As a professional photographer, one of our staff used to use the photo shops in Pacific Grove for printing quality pictures while on assignment. With the digital switch, she recommends you stay in Pacific Grove for at least a day to explore and shoot some seaside pictures. Popular in Pacific Grove are its ocean view hotels, B&Bs (bed and breakfast inns) and refreshing strolls. You can also renta a kayak or bicycle and get around. Monterey Bay Aquarium is just around the bend in Monterey, and one entry gate to the 17-mile drive is in Pacific Grove. Be sure to take that drive. It is worth the fee which at last count, was around $10 give or take.
