We've booked Best Western hotels in the Palm Desert region and found them a fair deal, especially if you have the option to move. Checking in early is often the key when you arrive to being able to move from one room to another, should you find yourself less than satisfied with the cheap or budget rooms. What's most important is the bed, the air conditioning and location. You probably will have a car when visiting the desert, as public transportion either doesn't exist out there, or is minimal.
