Grover Beach features limited offerings in hotels, mainly recognized as a camping beach. This is the only remaining beach area in California where you can actually take your all terrain vehicles onto the sand and ride the dunes. Campers in their RV's pour into this state beach and park all year long. It is windy and and sandy along the beach, as you might expect, in Grover Beach. For us city travelers without toys, we book a hotel room at the place near a popular restaurant in town. We then explore the beach, wandering, taking photos and building bonfires in the sand at night. The life is slower paced and the climate is rugged with the sandy-wind sometimes blowing at the beach. It's just the ideal place for those who love excitement. For really city-fied people, you might be better off booking hotels up the coast a few miles in Pismo Beach. But for us, Grover Beach is fantastic!
