Uncorked to Bring a Taste of Napa to The Village at
Squaw Valley USA. Uncorked, a wine tasting bar and
retail shop at the Village at the base of the ski area
in Squaw Valley has become the hangout for wine lovers
to taste Napa Valley and quality wines. The retail shop
has cheeses, fine cigars, glassware and wine-related
gift items for those seeking quality wine items.
Weekend
tasting events and gifts to help ease your guilt of
having too much fun skiing in Squaw Valley are sold as
you arrive in town or get ready to leave. Everybody
likes to unwind after a tough workout. Uncorked makes
unwinding a ritual you won't want to miss. Opened in
February 2007, Uncorked was a welcome addition to a
mountain resort community that's known for its bowl
skiing. As the owners prepared for their first
Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays on the mountain,
Uncorked has beefed up its selection of popular,
most-requested wines.
Squaw Valley USA
is comprised of 6 Sierra Peaks,, 16 open bowls,
over 100 runs and 33 lifts to choose from. Guests use
the chairlifts as a reference for bowl skiing, with
lifts rated beginner, intermediate and advanced based on
the type of terrain that they access. Olympic Valley -
Lake Tahoe wine lovers have said Uncorked added a touch
of class to The Village at Squaw Valley USA.
The combination wine tasting bar and retail shop
features wine tastings and wines by the glass as well as
a bottle of wine, all accompanied with menu items such
as cheese plates at the custom crafted bar by Roundwood
Company. Owners Kali Kopley and Rick Papaleo, Lake Tahoe
locals, also like to share information about a variety
of wines, history of many vineyards, wine regions and
varietals.
“Our concept is to provide a hip, warm, casual
atmosphere with a wine cellar backdrop,” said Kopley.
“We not only want Uncorked to be the place to enjoy a
glass of wine with friends or unwind after skiing, we
want to help people learn about and explore the world of
wine.”
Uncorked features small lots of wine made from estate
grown organic and biodynamic grapes using the best of
old and new world winemaking techniques. Wine
aficionados can find notable, world-class wines from
many regions around the globe, plus hard-to-get
favorites.
In addition to individual wine tastings, Uncorked hosts
weekend tasting events where wine makers showcase their
