TOP 5 WORLD THEME PARKS: In world attendance,
Disney theme parks hold the largest market share and
are going strong, indeed. Acing out California's
Disneyland is
1. Magic Kingdom - Orlando, Florida, United
States, which reported just under 17 million
attendance (16.6) in recent figures.
2. Disneyland Anaheim (California) park, the
original theme park came in second at 14.7 million.
3. Tokyo Disneyland in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan
got third billing with just under 13 million annual
visitors (12.9) and in the same destination
experience but separated out as a different park is
4. Tokyo DisneySea - Urayasu, Chiba, Japan
with just over 12 million (12.1).
5. Disneyland Paris at Cedex, Marne La Valle, France was fifth and
experienced 10.6 million visitors in a single year.
That's formidable, considering the French populace
was reported by world press to be less than warm
about the prospects of welcoming a Disneyland
enterprise in their nation.
And the sixth busiest theme park by
attendance that rounds out the Disney ventures was
6. Epcot in Orlando, Florida, with a whopping
10.4 million people entering its gates in a single
year. Additional theme parks within the Disney
holdings in this Florida location include
Disney's Hollywood Studios, Orlando, FL, at
9.1 million folks attending; and Disney's Animal
Kingdom, Orlando, FL, USA, with
five-and-a-half million people.
Putting this all in perspective, the Disney parks
and attractions worldwide garnered over 103 million
visitors. Wow! Back in California the top parks
earned around 50 million guests in a year.
Florida's Disneyland parks in Orlando got about 45
million visitors in a single year, while the
California Disneyland parks in Anaheim got about
20.65 million or 20,650,000. With less than half the
visitors in California than Florida enjoys at Disney
attractions annually, it's easy to see why a company
that began with Disneyland and sought to grow its
holdings and assets, would expand to other cities
around the globe. While the costs of doing business
are not factored into the equation, Disneyland still
holds the magic globally.
