When the snow arrives and the rain passes through Southern
California, you don't have to worry about the skiing being absolute on the
hill at Big Bear Lake's ski resorts. The time when they have to get the word
out is during winters when the snow machines are running, and most don't
realize that there's great snow skiing to be had just two hours from Los
Angeles beaches.
Many of us learned to ski at Big Bear. There was a time when it only
has rope tow and a couple chairs. This isn't your momma's ski resort! This
is made for extreme thrills, snowboarding, skiing and all sorts of fun. With
a couple ski resorts in the region, you can ski for a day or several.
Bear Mountain skiers and snowboarders can dig into 1,700
vertical feet of terrain spanning four
mountain peaks. Silver Mountain is home to three very popular advanced runs and
provides great access to Deer and Goldmine canyons. Pick from
40% intermediate,
30% advanced and additional beginner and intermediate options. At Bear
Mountain Resorts you'll find 12 lifts, including
2 High-speed quad chairs; 4 Mountain Peaks with
Bear Peak at 8,805 feet, and 17 miles of slopes.
Geronimo is the highest,
steepest and most advanced run in Southern California and offers great
access to Deer and Bow canyons. This run is for expert skiers and riders
only! To get to the base of Geronimo, take the high-speed quad chairlift,
Access Express. Night sessions are offered...check the web for details.
