Santa Claus is coming to town in a
woody, on a motorcycle, in a
lifeguard truck and is wearing a
Hawaiian print flower shirt.
This is not you daddy's Christmas.
This is Santa Claus California
style. So you better watch out, you
better not cry, you better not
pout...why? Santa Claus is coming to
town.
According to NORAD Tracks Santa (noradsanta.com),
the over 6 billion citizens on earth
would each garner less than three
ten-thousandths of a second to
receive toys or gifts from Santa, if
he made it to each home
individually. NORAD's solution to
how he really delivers all the toys
is that he works outside the space
time continuum. You can watch the
Santa Countdown and follow his
progress around the globe on the
Norad Santa web site.
With the nature of this part time
job position that's strictly
seasonal, Santa and Mrs. Claus are a
special breed. And it takes a
special character to fill those
really big shoes. The Internet has
changed the way Santa does business,
too. Kids can now email Santa or
parents can provide their CC for and
online phone chat with him for the
children.
In California, thousands of Santa Claus costumes are
sold and many, many "helpers" hit
the road to visit malls, stores,
homes, churches, hospitals with
children's wards and other place to
bring joy to good girls and boys.
Reportedly Santa also makes guest
visits to bars & pubs, where he's
been propositioned a few times, or
at least pinched on the behind. Now
that's naughty!
Santa is a character who wears a red
suit, has a white beard and
supposedly works with the help of
elves all year at the North Pole, to
bring toys to good girls and boys at
Christmas. He supposedly travels
around the globe in 24 hours and
makes it everyone's home, dropping
by gifts. He rides a sleigh
with 8 reindeer, Dasher, Dancer,
Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid,
Donder and Blitzen.
In California, we've seen poor Santa
sweat at malls because it can be
rather warm here during the winter
days. But once he makes it to his
appointed rounds, Santa gets to kick
back at the pool in a pair of shorts
and Hawaiian print shirt, sipping
ice tea or whatever pleases.
Your best bet for finding a Santa is
to be one. But next to renting the
suit or buying it, you'll normally
discover a suited Santa making a
guest appearance at a local mall.
