Picture this: An edible
Christmas poinsettia gets eaten by hungry
holiday guests seeking a fresher, healthier
way to say Merry Christmas.
It's
never too early to put your friends and
guests on a diet. But believe it or not, the
beautiful, edible poinsettia decoration made
of vegetables goes down easy because it is
so pretty. Surrounded by carrot candles,
celery and pineapples, this entertainer's
centerpiece for any appetizer buffet or
table decor is sure to please.
The photo
was taken aboard a Carnival Cruise ship
heading for Mexico at Christmas time. It was
one of my favorite holidays ever spent
traveling. The weather was warm and balmy,
the days were sunny and the food was out of
sight. One Christmas night the chefs
aboard the ship created a feast never seen
before. It wrapped around the entire dining
room and was filled with breads, fish,
pates, desserts and other food items
decorated in Christmas style. Like most
cruise ships, you had to bring an appetite
to dine at midnight after already having a
sit-down dinner.
Poinsettias represent Christmas more than
any other plant. It is the number one plant
or flower item given during the winter
holiday, and California is the top grower of
poinsettias in the U.S.
