Addamo Vineyards were planted in 2000, grapes cultivated,
and wines began to flow practically from the vines in a family tradition
filled with passion for the finer things in life.
While the Addamo family has its roots in Sicily, the owner
was raised in the family wine business in Hollister, California.
Dreaming of one day owning a vineyard, he and his wife have excelled in
that effort in Santa Maria valley. Liz is professional chef who took her
knowledge of wine and food, and paired them in what began as a wine
tasting room that served sandwiches and hors d'oeuvres. By arrangement
you can work with Liz to enjoy a feast for special occasions such as
birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and corporate events.
Above is the dining area of the wine tasting room. You'll
also seek a glass of wine, and a wood-cooked artichoke dusted with a
cheese, and accompanied by a red pepper dipping sauce and a slice of
lime. After munching on appetizers and socializing among family and
friends, our group sat down for serious dining and wine.
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Grenache and
Syrah were deemed to be most suited to the Addamo estate vineyard, so
expect to enjoy some tasty wines offering a great range to pair with
delicious dishes. Our second course was several grilled shrimp set atop
an herb sauce, and mixed gourmet greens with a light vinaigrette
dressing. Delicious!
Followed with a sorbet in a glass
decorated with lemon and suitable for the palette, the finale aimed to
please in this gourmet meal that Liz, a vintner and chef, created. The
entree was a velvety, melt-in-your-mouth filet cut of beef on a bed of
mashed garlic potatoes and grilled asparagus, with a delicious wine
sauce. Ah-h-h-h-h-h-ddamo!
