Orange County Map includes a list of cities in this Southern California coastal county that holds many distinctions.

Welcome to Orange County, shown in the map above. Orange County can be found in many states around the nation with one of the better known in Florida.

California's version of Orange County has been spun, twisted and squeezed like the juicy orange that once stood prominent in the landscape before the region turned into a commercial and residential oasis.

Today Orange County has been portrayed on TV shows to include rich housewives, rich teen brats and people with problems, albeit attractive and owning all the trappings such as extravagant homes by the beach. Orange County, California does have that. But it also includes around 3 million residents of all types, socio-economic backgrounds and ethnic heritages. In fact, OC is poised to become majority Hispanic in the next decade.

Home to Disneyland Resort, the top visited attraction in California, vacationers and conventioneers from around the world come to see the theme park and visit the beaches nearby. Other attractions include music arenas, Knotts Berry Farm theme park, a major league baseball team, the Angels, a hockey team, the Mighty Ducks, and more.

Some distinctions include:

One of the smartest cities, Irvine, home to University of California Irvine, with its planned community.

One of the most populated counties in the country based on density.

One of the most conservative counties in California, sometimes called "Red" instead of "Orange". The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and birthplace is located in Yorba Linda, an Orange County city. The Western Whitehouse for this former (deceased) president was in San Clemente in southern Orange County.

The County that became bankrupt due to poor investment practices.

The largest Vietnamese community outside of Asia is Little Saigon, located in Orange County's city Westminster.

The most beach hotels on the sand are in Laguna Beach, where the 5 Diamond Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach is a luxury retreat frequented by the world's wealthiest, most powerful people.

The county features dozens of higher educational institutions, a world class performing arts center, the nation's premier shopping destination, South Coast Plaza, harbors in Dana Point, Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. Trips to Catalina Island depart from Newport Beach and Dana Point. The national airport, Orange County Airport, pays tribute to John Wayne, a former resident.
