Oktoberfest in California is lovely.
Everybody loves Oktoberfest in California,
partially because of the attire. Girls in
their dirndl and guys in lederhosen provide
a costume transformation after summer at the
beach.
It's been
a long hot summer by the time Oktoberfest
comes to town in California. There are
probably 100 or more Oktoberfest
celebrations throughout California but the
most fun events extend a month or more,
giving revelers a chance to become German
for an evening or day.
Oktoberfest and the lovely folks that grace
the event are filled with smiles. It's
not what you'd envision the California beach
to be like, but many years back when the
German immigrants settled here, they
established cities such as Disneyland's
Anaheim (Ana's home in German). In
Huntington Beach where life is ever so
sweet, the Bischoffs came and built a German
village in the 1970's. In German tradition,
the family has run Old World German Village
for decades, serving up thousands of lagers,
salted pretzels, strudels and schnitzels
with kraut.
Huntington Beach tradition where
everyone's a little bit German during
Oktoberfest
celebration season. One of many such
celebrations in California, you'll find a
fabulous mountain
Oktoberfest in Big Bear Lake. And not to
be ignored is the
oldest,
biggest Oktoberfest at Alpine Village in
Torrance.
For those
who love the circus like environment, the
schmaltzy, goofy hats and dances, and the
just plain fun that Oktoberfest serves up,
we've been attending this event for decades,
celebrating birthdays, once-a-year
gatherings with friends, family and even had
the pleasure of seeing one friend meet her
husband-to-be at a girls' gathering one
evening.
Oktoberfest is delicious! It's a place where
wishes can come true.
