LEGOLAND® California Model Builders to Complete Models for Land of Adventure

Land of Adventure is a new Legoland California area that includes 75 models made of nearly half a million bricks!

CARLSBAD, Calif.– LEGOLAND® California Master Model Builders work around the clock to complete the models for Land of Adventure, the family theme Park’s new block of attractions. Transporting guests into 1920s Egypt, Land of Adventure introduces Park guests to four new attractions including Lost Kingdom Adventure, the Park’s first-ever dark ride.

With more than 75 new models utilizing nearly half a million LEGO® bricks, it’s no small feat to bring Land of Adventure to life. Models range from a small diamond ring in the treasure room of Lost Kingdom Adventure made of just 19 bricks to the 16-foot-tall Pharaoh model made of more than 300,000 standing guard over the entire area.

 

Based in ancient temple ruins, Lost Kingdom Adventure takes explorers in desert jeeps, armed with laser blasters, on a journey to find treasure.

“This ride is my baby,” said Master Model Designer Bill Vollbrecht who was a key designer for Lost Kingdom Adventure. “I spent dozens of hours researching ancient Egypt to lend an air of authenticity to the ride which takes explorers through 10 different scenes along the journey including a spider’s lair, professor’s lab, mummy relics, and my personal favorite, a performing skeleton band.”

Beyond the hidden ruins, a different adventure awaits with rides Cargo Ace and Beetle Bounce. Cargo Ace helps imaginations soar as children become pilots flying airplanes up to six feet into the air. Beetle Bounce boosts children to even bigger heights – nearly 15 feet to be exact – as they are launched up one of two towers nearly touching the gigantic LEGO beetles above them. At Pharaoh’s Revenge, children and parents fire thousands of foam balls at targets and each other in an oasis of fun.

Model Builders and Designers have been working on the new attractions for months – first sketches, then prototypes and now the actual models that will give LEGOLAND California’s special brand of magic to Land of Adventure.
