Southern California. Rip's B.A.D Ride
is a motorcycle fund-raising ride and family festival, which
unites the biker nation in the fight against diabetes, with a
full day of great riding, live concert featuring a hot band, delicious food, games for the kids, bike show, and a
good vibe! More than 5,000 riders are expected to participate in
the event to raise money for diabetes research, education and
advocacy. The B.A.D Ride was conceived 13 years ago in Southern
California by Rip Rose, a biker and photojournalist for Easyrider Magazine, who wanted to bring the biker nation
together in the fight against diabetes.
The ride has multiple start locations, where riders meet in the
morning and participate in an escorted ride to the final
destination. The event is open to riders and non riders alike.
Diabetes is the nation's fifth deadliest disease and it has no
cure. Diabetes can lead to serious complications and premature
death, but people with diabetes can take steps to manage the
disease and lower the risk of complications. Early diagnosis and
treatment of diabetes is critical. Unfortunately, many people
living with diabetes do not even know it.
The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading
voluntary health organization supporting diabetes research,
information and advocacy. Founded in 1940, the Association has
offices in every region of the country, providing services to
hundreds of communities.
