Brea,
Calif.--Though not widely known or recognized as a
Southern California vacation destination, Brea is better
recognized to business travelers doing business in the
city. Among its large corporations and clients are
aerospace, oil, and banking industries that bring the
business set to town.
But what we missed
until we did our research is that Breaa's convenient &
close location to Knott's Berry Farm and Pirates Dinner
Adventure in Buena Park, Disneyland and Downtown Disney
in Anaheim, and its own shopping mall and huge movie
theater complex are a few reasons you might want to stay
in Brea.
With a sprinkling
of hotels that offer amenities such as the Embassy
Suites Made-to-Order breakfast, guests tend to travel to
destinations where they can find this brand, just for
the hot meal alone. Checking the hotel prices of Brea's
Embassy Suites, the prices are generally lower than the
Embassy Suites in Garden Grove right next to Disneyland.
Some of the fun
things to see in Brea include arts and entertainment
that city has invested in. Creating an environment
welcoming to guests, you can attend the performing arts
venue, a city-operated facility that features plays,
concerts with top musical acts, and comedy shows. In
addition, the city also operates an art center that
annually focuses on California arts and artists.
Made in California exhibit is a juried art show and a
decades-long tradition that allows resident artists to
submit their works for exhibition. A very cool gift shop
at the Gallery offers glass art, mixed media, ceramics
and display art gifts for tourists to acquire and take
home from a trip.
Where to eat:
Claim Jumper serves a variety of traditional dishes,
steaks, burgers, chicken and many appetizers in hearty
portions. This mid-priced chain restaurant is a sure
bet. BJ's Brewhouse serves up pizza and micro-brewed
beers, ideal for casual faire. The Melting Pot is one of
our favorites, serving fondue dishes that make for
lively entertainment and sharing in a meal that's more
of a social event. Other hot & tasty chain options are
Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden, Island Restaurant,
Red Lobster, Buca di Beppo, Outback Steakhouse,
Souplantation,
California Pizza Kitchen and over 70 great choices
ranging from Greek to Cuban.
Where to stay:
The Embassy Suites offers made-to-order
breakfast, and all-suite accommodations. One of the more
unusual Embassy Suites hotels offers an Egyptian
courtyard and multi-colored koi pond. The theme is fun.
Woodfin Suites also features full breakfast and
all suites.
What to see:
Brea Jazz Festival is an annual highlight held usually
in September. Breadowntown.com offers updates on the
upcoming jazz fests. During the summer there's a
cool car show at Bobby McGhee's on Wednesday
evenings.
