Silver Anniversary Festival Temecula Balloon & Wine
Festival Announces Saturday Headliner - Kenny Loggins
Event Dates: June 6 - 8, 2008
TEMECULA , CA –. If your Mama don't dance and your Daddy don't
rock 'n' roll - don't fight it. Pack them in the car and head to
the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival Saturday June 7,
because Kenny Loggins will get their toes tapping.
Celebrating 25 years, the Festival association recently
announced Loggins as one of their Saturday headliners on the
Main Stage. An icon of the 1970s classic rock and concert scene,
Loggins was half of the popular Loggins and Messina duo famous
for hit songs like "Danny's Song" and "House at Pooh Corner."
Loggins caught the attention of then-Poco and Buffalo
Springfield producer Messina while writing for the Nitty Gritty
Dirt Band. The album "Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In"
emerged featuring many of Loggins' future standards. Those
standards include "Vahevala," "Peace of Mind," "Your Mamma Don't
Dance," and "Nobody But You." The duo broke up in 1976 and did a
reunion tour in 2005.
After the break up Loggins achieved solo stardom with
million-selling solo albums "Celebrate Me Home," "Nightwatch,"
"Keep the Fire," and "High Adventure." Hits during that era
included "This Is It," "Don't Fight It" with Steve Perry, "Heart
to Heart," and "Whenever I Call You Friend."
Loggins continued with hit albums and songs including "I'm
Alright" from the movie "Caddyshack", "Footloose" from the movie
of the same name, "Danger Zone" from "Top Gun" and "Nobody's
Fool" from "Caddyshack II." He won a Best Male Pop Vocal Grammy
for "This is It," and as co-writer Song of the Year for "What A
Fool Believes."
His 1991 “Leap of Faith” album featured "Conviction of the
Heart" a song Al Gore called "the unofficial anthem of the
environmental movement." Loggins latest albums "How About Now"
(2007) and "Live: Sittin' in Again at Santa Barbara Bowl," from
his reunion tour with Jim Messina.
Loggins will conclude Saturday's concert lineup with time to be
announced at a later date. Tickets for Saturday are $22 for
adults, $5 for juniors ages 7-12, and children six and under are
free. This year's event will also include gold and silver
premium reserved seating and a Saturday/Sunday package of $30
for adults. Tickets will be available online beginning in April.
The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival is June 6-8 at
Lake Skinner east of Temecula. It is one of the area's longest
running and premier events featuring dawn hot air balloon
launches, (weather permitting) Friday and Saturday evening
balloon glows, wine tasting from over 20 premium wineries,
Sunday's Xtremely Amped Super Moto Cross Show, Food and Wine
Pairing, and live concerts on two stages.
