Ballet Repertory
Theatre Coppelia - March 28 - 30, 2008
Ballet Repertory Theatre proudly presents "COPPELIA".
In this tale of Doctor Coppelius, an eccentric toymaker,
who creates a doll that is so lifelike many refuse to
believe that she is not real, a dedicated class of
students, and renown choreographer Anthony Sellars will
be featured.
Making his professional debut in the role of the
Nutcracker Prince with the New York City Ballet, Sellars
also held the male lead in the NBC special "Hansel and
Gretel." Studying and touring
throughout Europe, the Master Teacher is in constant
demand throughout the nation, but his heart tugs
him back as Artistic Director of Ballet Repertory
Theatre.
Another unique talent
in the Ballet Repertory Theatre is Terri Hayes, the
former protege of Sellars. The two are married but
Hayes is also known
for her performances with American Ballet
Theatre and Joffrey Ballet in New York City. Selected
"Miss Dance of America," she studied under luminaries
Mme. Pereyslavec, Leon Danielian, Meredith Baylis and
Robert Joffrey. She continues to dance and garners
critical acclaim in her Nutcracker performances.
About Coeppellia: As
a young couple argues over the doll, the comical twists
and turns that follow provide perfect family
entertainment. As a special treat, Anthony Sellars will
be performing the whimsical role of Doctor Coppelius and
Christopher Sellars, guest artist from Ballet West, will
be dancing the role of Franz.

This unique ballet company is
composed of approximately 35 dancers in a regional
Southern California ballet program offering classical
ballet and audition opportunities for performances of
some of the most popular ballets. While classes are
offered for all levels, the school offers advanced
training for students seeking professional
careers. This actual performing experience,
coupled with the discipline imposed by the artistic
director, develops important characteristics vital to a
dancer's success when auditioning with major companies.
The Nutcracker
is choreographed annually by Anthony Sellars and
traditional music by Tchaikovsky.
