Atascadero,
California North County Farmers Market or Atascadero
Farmers Market is held each Wednesday from 3 to 6
p.m. Premiering with a grand opening on June 7,
2006, the event was an instant success. Located on
the lawns surrounding a beautiful Sunken Gardens and
Civic Center, the event attracts a steady clientele
of local shoppers and visitors who seek the fresh
fruits, produce and cut flowers that are not only
some of the finest food and gifts you can buy, but
also are affordable.
Spring and Fall
are very pleasant at this market, and an afternoon
stop by the event to buy some fresh produce (or even
honey), offered seasonally, make this a fantastic
traveling refresher to get you system back to a
healthy position while on the road traveling.
In Summer it can
be hot at the Farmers Market. While nights are
pleasant, days can reach over 100 degrees. Winter
afternoons the temps can be as cold as the 40's
even, so just be prepared. Located near the Central
Coast Wine Country Trail, Atascadero is rural, but
also is growing rapidly and includes the chain
restaurants, grocers, gas stations and the amenities
you seek while traveling.
At this
particular market you'll find its strengths are the
food is grown fairly close by, and there are some
farmers who actually live right down the local roads
and bring their produce and goods that they grow
themselves. With extreme pride, you discover that
they sell quality items and generally quite
affordable prices. We usually walk away with some
nuts, dates, peaches, artichokes, blueberries, cut
flowers and other things you don't expect till you
see them.
