SACRAMENTO - Camellia
International Folk Dance Festival. Three days of dancing with
costumes, music and traditional dances representing many
countries around the globe. Some call it the 101 of world dance,
but it's pure energy and entertainment. Live music from the
group, California Kapela, is featured on Friday, March 14. The
weekend of clinics, training and classes culminates in a
spectacular dance pageant on March 16. The Sacramento
International Folk Dance and Arts Council promotes international
folk dance through a variety of programs that include this
event. The Council is comprised of dance organizations and
sponsors Camellia International Dance Festival each March with a
weekend of dance classes, parties and a concert featuring dance
and musical groups. Promoting cultural diversity and enrichment
through the learning process encourages peace and mutual
understanding, plus spreading the joy of dance.
Featured dance groups at
previous Camellia International Folk Dance Festival have
included: Elk Grove Chinese Dance Troup, Balliamo, Vintage
Dancers of Sacramento, White Hearther Dancers, Ceili Dancers,
Folklorico Latino de Woodland, ASKA Kolo Ansambl, Tance El
Dorado, AriRang Korean Dance Studio, Bedouin Dancers, Zado,
Sonechko and Miorita.

LA JOLLA - THE
SEVEN. A play adapted from Aeschylus' “Seven Against Thebes", is
Greek tragedy meets hip-hop in writer/composer Will Power's
modern adaptation of Aeschylus' story of a cursed family and a
society unsure of how to free itself from war. Power's urban
remix, with rhyming verse and diverse musical styles, shines
with relevance through the eyes of a new generation. Contains
adult language. Runs through March 16, 2008. Performance

LAKEPORT -
Holder Ford Fishing Tournament. 21st annual tournament on Clear
Lake is one of many
California fishing derbies held throughout the year. It
