ALAMEDA -  Legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra - Hop Onboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet to listen to world-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, the most popular and sought-after big band in the world. Doors open at 7 p.m. with free dance lessons, concert begins at 8 p.m. Ticket: $45 up/person. Ample free parking is available across the street from the pier. CALIFORNIA - Grunion Run in Southern California. Fishing license required for 16 and older. Best beaches span from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Approx. time for Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro. See link for other guidelines and beach times  10:35 p.m. - 12:35 a.m. dfg.ca.gov

 

CAMBRIA - Greenspace Art & Adventure Auction. Cambria's the spot to find some awesome travel packages and art to help raise funds to protect that treasured coastline of Central California. Location:  Veterans' Memorial Building, 1000 Main St., Cambria, CA. Time: 2 to 6 p.m. Admission to the event is $15, which includes local boutique wines and hors d'oeuvres. COSTA MESA - Orange County Fair Say Cheese. Enjoy one of the most popular urban fairs in the U.S. Pig races are an annual treat, carnival rides, food, fun, and loads of live entertainment and fun for the entire family.  Runs through Aug. 3, 2008 (closed Mondays).  Tickets: $5 - 10, kids under free 5 free. HUNTINGTON BEACH - Huck Finn Fishing Derby and Costume Contest. Largest fish, Huck Finn & Becky Thacher costume contests.  Held at Huntington Beach Pier, cross streets Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street (300 PCH, approx.), Huntington Beach, CA. LAGUNA BEACH - Art-A-Fair festival. 42nd annual art event located in a beautiful garden setting with 125 artists, plus live entertainment, fine food, demonstrations and workshops. This year's theme is "Venetian Carnival."  The event runs through Aug. 31. Location: 777 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, Calif.
