BURLINGAME -
Burlingame Jazz Festival. 16th annual Burlingame Art & Jazz
Festival presented by Burlingame Chamber of Commerce features
over 150 artists, fine art, sculptures, ceramics, crafts,
jewelry, specialty clothing, delicious gourmet foods, a home and
garden area, and a thoroughly entertaining children’s play area.
The Festival showcases many forms of light jazz such as
Dixieland, Swing and Latin. It’s a wonderful way to spend a
summer day with the family. Location: Burlingame Avenue, located
in the heart of the village-like downtown area of Burlingame, 15
minutes south of San Francisco in San Mateo County . Take
CalTrain to the Burlingame Train Station, which is just steps
away from the festival. Public parking is available. Or fly into
San Francisco Airport (in Burlingame,) and take a taxi. Runs

FALLBROOK -
Glass Art Show.
Fallbrook's annual event featuring a world of glass art is held

FERNDALE - Humboldt
County Fair.112th Annual Humboldt County Fair. Horse races, mule
races, sheep dog trials, livestock, carnival rides, arts &
handicrafts, food, floriculture and much more! Founded in 1896,
this is the oldest uninterrupted county fair in California. Runs

HOLLISTER - Old
Fashioned Bluegrass Festival. Since 1994 this quality showcase
of bluegrass talent has showcased top artists along with crafts,
vendors, foods and more. Runs through August 10. Time: Starts at

LODI - Tim Hanni, MW
(Master of Wine) will be at the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center on
Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, demonstrating the art of
balancing food and wine flavors. He will be introducing a new
flavor balancing seasoning called Vignon. In the wine world, Tim
is known as the advocate for helping the consumer discover their
wine and food preferences. Only one of 264 Masters of Wine in
the world, Tim was the first of two Americans to achieve what is
regarded as the highest accolade in the international wine
industry. Tim is credited with introducing the concept of the
“umami” taste phenomenon to the wine and food world, the fifth
taste sensation along with sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. Tim
will be offering foods known difficult to pair wines with and
match them with a selection of wines from the Lodi appellation.

LONG BEACH - Long
Beach Jazz Festival. 20 year old event features variety of top
jazz musicians. Runs through Aug 10, 2008. Since 1988, featuring
a wealth of contemporary and traditional performances by a host
of internationally renown jazz artists. Between performances
stroll the aisles of the international marketplace where 100
vendors present their multiethnic cuisines and arts. Location:

MT. SHASTA - Mt.
Shasta Music Festival Summer Concert Series Presents Albino. The
12 piece Afrobeat music and dance ensemble honors the fiery
legacy of Nigerian icon Fela Kuti, a musical and political voice

POWAY - Upstream Caribbean Music. Target Summer
Concert in the Park Series is sponsored by the City of Poway,
Target Stores, and Marrokal Construction. Bring a blanket
or chair, and a picnic dinner, and head out to Lake Poway and
Old Poway Park for some great summer fun. The FREE concerts are
on Sundays, from June 22 through August 17 (except July 6),

County Fair and Bay Meadows Thoroughbred Horse Racing. Contests,
