There's no time for doldrums during the month of October in
California. The events that are offered throughout the
state include seasonal harvests, food crop celebrations,
Halloween haunts, corn mazes, Trick-or-Treat
opportunities for kids, bike races, car shows, 5k runs
and many things unique and fun. Some foods to enjoy at
celebrations include avocados, lemons, apples and
eggplant. You'll find those in cities ranging from Santa
Barbara County's Carpinteria to Loomis for eggplant, and
Springville for apple season festival. In addition to
food, cultural and ethnic celebrations may take you to
Oakland for the Black Cowboy Parade or Oxnard for the
Multicultural Celebration. Oktoberfest, a Bavarian food
and beer celebration brings lots of chicken dancing and
laughter on tap. But the biggest event of all is
Halloween. It and the surrounding events such as pumpkin
patches, train rides, haunted houses and scare
experiences at theme parks all generate big revenue as
well as keeping the public entertained. If you take a
look a the hundreds of events going on, you'll surely
find something that will get you out there enjoying the
California sun.
