July Events
California 2008
July is picnics,
barbeques, beach fires, surfing competitions, rock
festivals out on the lawn, sandcastles in the sand and a
whole lot more. In California and at its beaches July is
the month where you'll see the most traffic. Millions
share the sand and the water for some r&r. One of the
largest attended sandcastle events in the United States
is held in Imperial Beach in July. On the Central Coast
they're having a ball with the Ojai Rock Fest and the
Santa Barbara Bastille Day French Festival.
Don't forget about
4th of July. There's hardly a dry eye as the floats and
patriotic themed bands march down Main Street in
Huntington Beach. Throughout California residents and
visitors are greeted to the rockets' red glare, bombs
bursting in air and the American flag on America's
Independence Day celebrations. These events include fun
runs, games, contests and the big fireworks show on the
beaches and in the parks at night. If you love summer,
you'll love it the most in California during a beautiful
July day. |

While many
activities and events herald the new year, one
California favorite is Whale Watching. You can park your
car at the roadside vista along Highway 1 in Big Sur and
watch them, or board a boat to the Channel Island and
get views as part of your journey. Better yet, take a
whale watching tour to see the magnificent migrating
gray creatures in the Pacific Ocean. You normally don't
have to travel more than a few miles off coast to watch,
depending on their favorite spots.
One thing to
consider, like all your travels, please do call first
before going. Some museums actually close their doors
for the winter in the mountain areas. Even the events
get cancelled from time to time and they forget to tell
us.
