| August events
2008 in California will include some of the hottest
celebrations such as the Monterey County Fair. Lake
County Fair, San Mateo County Fair and Humboldt County
Fair. In addition to the hot dogs, corn dogs, funnel
cakes and cotton candy consumed with lemon aid at these
events, there will be plenty of sodas to go around at
Tiki Beach Festival in Long Beach, Sawdust Festival in
Laguna Beach, Indy Grand Prix Racing in Sonoma County
and Paso Robles Winemakers Cook-off. In addition to the
wine, the food, fast cars and good times, get down to
the beach for a Sandcastle contest in Long Beach,
Woodies at the Beach in Santa Barbara and Snow at the
Beach in the Boardfest in Huntington Beach, celebrating
all types of boarding.
What do we like
best about August events? In California it is the time
when the weather is consistently warm, and the events
occur like clockwork, thanks to generally a lack of
rain. In addition, August celebrates summer and its
waning days as the kids plan to head back to school for
another year without those great beach week-day outings.
August is when you can count on things to slow down
soon. And get ready for the autumn harvests, October
Halloween pumpkins, November's Thanksgiving and
December's tree lightings, boat parades and community
gatherings bringing holiday cheer.
