Embarcadero Ice Skating has begun, and man, is it funn! Skating in an ice rink in San Francisco is very, oh-so cosmo, but there's another rink opening soon in San Jose, and it's in the Palms.

MONO COUNTY - Fall Foliage season. It lasts approx. 8 weeks through early November and is one of the world's most colorful displays of leaves changing color. Photos & information.

SAN MATEO - Coyote Point Museum FREE WEDNESDAY. Museum includes four interconnected areas: The Environmental Hall, with natural history exhibits of the San Francisco Bay Area and its six distinct ecosystems; Themed Gardens, with many samples of California wildflowers including a Hummingbird Garden, Butterfly Habitat and Nature’s Marketplace, the latter of which features plants used by California’s Native Americans; Wildlife Habitats, providing natural settings in which to view over 150 live animals indigenous to the Bay Area; and a Bird Aviary, containing a brook, native plants and more than four-dozen indigenous species of birds.
