SANTA BARBARA - 11th Annual Big Dog Parade and Canine Festival features more

dogs… their companionship, their silliness, their love, and their service. Watch
our loyal friends strut their stuff down State Street competing in good fun for
a chance to win several great Parade prizes. Beginning at De La Guerra Plaza at

begins. Live music, a kid's area, and dog-friendly vendors and sponsors await
the crowds of people ready for good food and fun times. The most important
part of this annual event is that all of the proceeds are donated to the Big Dog
Foundation. The Big Dog Foundation supports charities that help dogs, children,
and dogs that help people. Please join us in helping a great cause! The
smiles and laughter seen and heard from the 15,000 spectators of last year's

HUNTINGTON
BEACH - Jazz Concert under direction of Tom Kubis.
Born in 1951 in Los Angeles, California, after studying music, Kubis began
playing tenor and soprano saxophones with various bands. He also played
piano for Bobby Vinton. Not only has he succeeded as a musician,
however, Kubis's compositions and arrangements are in great demand with big
band leaders. Tom Kubis formed his own big band, attracting the attention of
Jack Sheldon who became an informal co-leader of the band. Apart from
writing for the band, Kubis continues to provide charts for others,
including Bill Watrous, the BBC Radio Big Band, and his work is also
performed by youth and college bands in the USA and UK. While his writing is
always lively, entertaining and often challenging, musicians and audiences
alike love the complexity of his arrangements. Kubis's own recording career
has held second fiddle to other projects but his artistic talent has shaped
the jazz scene and puts him on the chart as one of the greatest jazz
composers, performers and conductors today. Call: (714) 895-8150.
Location: Stage West, Golden West College, 15744 Golden West Street, Huntington Beach, California 92647. Free
admission.
