Safari
West Wildlife Preserve is nestled on 400
acres in the heart of California's wine country in Santa
Rosa. Safari West is home for over 400 exotic mammals and
offers lodging in unique cabins shipped from Africa and
re-assembled on the property.
Visitors
are surrounded by giraffe, gazelle, scimitar-horned oryx,
ostrich and other species of African antelope in an
authentic safari vehicle (military jeeps are used as well as
trams). Sharing the beauty and diversity of the savannah
environment, this Santa Rosa wildlife park is designed to
give the animals the ability to interact and roam about
freely.
In the
heart of California's wine country among ranches and
vineyards is lies the essence and spirit of Africa.
Transported into an exotic world woven with a tapestry of
natural sounds and earthy smells, the Serengeti-like
environment features melodious chirps from the aviary,
squawking calls from gregarious parrots, and a occasional
lemur screech.
If you
find this experience captivating, you can stay all night in
a safari tent and be lulled to sleep by the gentle sound of
rain, the shuffle of the winds and the call of the wild.
Individual luxury tents with beds, bathrooms, running water
and even a shower are situated near the giant giraffes.
On this
exciting California vacation, slacks or jeans, walking
shoes, sunscreen and a hat are recommended. Shorts are
advisable during summer hours. In the fall and spring,
you'll want to have a jacket on hand. Expect some mud during
the winter, so please bring boots. Don't forget your camera
and binoculars.

West Wildlife Foundation, (SWWF) a research and educational
nonprofit organization. SWWF takes an active part in
educating the local community through seminars, workshops,
wildlife camps for children and more.
