The California Museum for
History, Women and the Arts - Sacramento, California
Once called California State History Museum, The California Museum
for History, Women and the Arts has been overhauled with a modern,
high-tech and interactive design. The first California museum to include
a permanent gallery space dedicated to telling the history of
California’s remarkable women, exhibits featuring Rosie the Riveter and
Elizabeth Taylor offer contemporary appeal.
The Museum continues to tell the history of California through the
stories of both men and women but as of opening, included a large
collection of exhibits on the second floor featuring women exclusively.
From the American woman's role
during war times to prominent contemporary women such as skate and movie
stars, their actual costumes and information is on display. There's a
fantastic gift store and event space for meetings, dinners and unique
gatherings. Call (916) 653-7524 for general information or (916)
653-0650 for museum store.
