Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa   Bodega Bay Lodge and Spa in Bodega is but one of many cozy, comfortable, elegant resorts where guests can snuggle up to a crackling fireplace in their private suites as they overlook the Bodega Bay. Golf, a harbor, shops and Doran Park are nearby. This 4 Diamond property receives our vote, definitely.   One in the small chain of Woodside Hotels and Resorts, this property offers the great decor, fabulous firm bed and linens, restaurant on site, great views from the suites and many touches that Woodside is known for. With over a week of travel along the California Coast and the equal sum of money spent at a variety of ocean view hotels, this property stood clearly above the crowd.   Take for instance the spa and workout room. A healthy supply of neatly folded towels await guests entering the lobby of the facility as does a sign that there's a quiet zone in the vicinity of the spa treatment rooms.    After a wonderful salmon dinner at a view restaurant just a quick drive down the road at the Bodegay Bay harbor, our group headed for a workout. We enjoyed the variety of machines in the empty room. (It seems most hotel guests don't work out at 9 p.m.)   What an experience, walking on a treadmill at night with the cool mist of the ocean fog drifting into the room from the windows we opened! If you love the ocean, the smell of the sea and are a night owl, this is the sort of thing that you can appreciate.  Sleepy heads will prefer to spend their time in bed.  The suite features an expansive bar area with a sink, refrigerator, mirrors and lights and shelves. Built next to the bar is a work desk and some comfortable chairs.  The room treatments (subject to change) such as quality shutters for the sliding glass door that leads to a view walkout balcony, chairs with upholstered beach chair and umbrella designs and perfectly clean, cushioned carpeted flooring will meet the standards of discriminating travelers.    The bathroom was simple but provided what we care about most....a decent shower head with a lively waterflow. There's nothing more irritating than showers that make you wait for water and force you to hover under a little nozzle to get clean.  We noticed that in every hotel we chose along the coast north from Monterey to Mendocino Counties, the shower heads were high end products that worked wonderfully.  After a long day, there's nothing like a shower massage and a beautiful bed. Going back to Bodega Bay and staying at Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa is recommended for travelers who are willing to pay a bit more.
