We don’t experience and see many deer in the major California cities. Orange County beaches, downtown L.A., San Diego and San Francisco rarely experience a lost deer running across a freeway trying to find its way back to the forest. Children growing up in these urban areas think animals come from zoos, in fact. Maybe it’s time to pack it up and visit places where the deer roam free. It is a perfect re-connection with nature, an education for the kids, and an opportunity to get grounding and breathe deep. One place where it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll see at least a deer or two is the Pacific Lighthouse Lodge and Suites in Pacific Grove. Located next to the beaches, Pacific Ocean, a lighthouse and public golf course, the rambling hotel with a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, afternoon BBQs and shaded decks, includes views of deer that roam gently in the forests and small cemetery in a grove of trees next to the hotel. The drive from San Francisco is almost nothing, but from Southern California it can take around five hours to get to Pacific Grove by car. Once there, you”ll be saying, “Oh look, there’s a deer!” Read more>
