National Travel & Tourism Week May 8-16, 2010

Celebrated nationwide, National Travel & Tourism Week is a concerted effort to get people out traveling. Of course everyone loves to travel. But in tough economic times, many don’t have jobs and are worried about losing their homes. Travel is the last thing on their minds.
While such constraints on budgets and concerns in life make traveling too much of an expense for many of us, those who can travel have cut back. Yet, we’re here to tell you there are deals to be had, and soft spots in the travel sector, especially in California.
Some of our favorite deals going into summer 2010 include the places you might normally ignore. A former city manager for a San Diego suburb told us the other day that San Diego is in a soft spot–and we know that.
Look for cheaper hotel rooms near the convention center in some of the new high rise hotels that have a glut during this economy. Sure, they’re not right on the beach, but they are beautiful and new. Check it out (try Hilton San Diego Bayfront and others for great prices).
