Take a Break at “The Lake” - Big Bear Snow Awaits

Posted by: Beach Reporter In: california| travel

Big Bear Lake, Calif.–Dan McKernan of the Big Bear Lake Resort Association invites those sick of the California rain to visit the mountains where a perfect snow provides the stuff that dreams are made of.

After a heavy downpour of rain, flooding, waterspouts and mudslides, Southern Californians are the ideal audience to take advantage of quick mountain escapes, says McKernan. All roads leading into Big Bear are open, and Caltrans will continue to work around the clock to keep the roads clear.

Big Bear has transformed into a spectacular winter wonderland. Big Bear Mountain Resorts accumulated more than three feet of fresh snow in the recent storm passing through, and expect to find totals up to six feet when it’s all said and done from this current system. Clear skies with highs in the forties should provide excellent conditions for skiers and snowboarders in upcoming weekends.

Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, inner tubing, toboggan rides, snowshoeing and sledding all provide invigorating outdoor activities to enjoy in the sunny days ahead. Snow-capped mountains, white-covered pine trees and comfy hotels & cabins with fireplaces provide an ideal atmosphere for rest and relaxation.
