Idaho Smith, Movie Spoof at All American Melodrama Theater Long Beach

Long Beach, CA–The comedy melodrama “Idaho Smith and The Drinking Fountain of Youth” invites the public to book a seat for hillarious entertainment at Shoreline Village in Long Beach. From January 15 to March 7, 2010,  the live show with a musical vaudeville revue, “Safari So Good” provides audiences will fast paced action movie satire and its even quicker dialogue.

Southern California’s newest family entertainment venue offers a combination of casual dining with a live show.  Owner and Artistic Director Ken Parks’ vision of an old-fashioned, fun-for-all-ages attraction has become a reality as theatergoers avidly boo the dastardly Villain, cheer the stalwart Hero and sigh for the lovely Damsel in Distress. Parks, a veteran show director for The Walt Disney Company and Knott’s Berry Farm says,”What could be more All-American than sitting down at a checkered tablecloth with a hot dog, plate of spaghetti, popcorn, soda pop and beer to watch a great comedy melodrama where Good always triumphs over Evil?”

The theater is located in the downtown Long Beach waterfront’s Shoreline Village and from the minute one approaches the mint green, barn-like structure it’s clear that this is the place for an innocent good time. Large cartoon-like faces, reminiscent of Snidely Whiplash and Dudley Do-right,  grin down at the passers-by. Peeking in through the front doors one finds a brightly colored, Victorian-era Music Hall , complete with a mounted moose head, placidly surveying the audience. Once inside, the theater is cozy and intimate, seating under 100 people, so that all seats are up close to the action, making it even more inviting to boo, hiss and cheer the characters in the play.

Idaho Smith and the Shirley Temple of Doom stars Jeremy Carter, Dale Jones, Emily Pessano, and Paul Villano.
Written by Jeremy Carter and Directed by Ken Parks, the comedy melodrama is presented four times a week with show times as follows:

Fridays at 7:30 pm.
Saturdays at 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
Sundays at 7:00 pm.
Doors and concessions open one half-hour before showtime. All seating is general. Cost: $20; $18 senior, student; $14 under 12 years.

Reservations are recommended by calling the theater at: 562 495-5900. VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER and AMERICAN EXPRESS are accepted at the box office.  Food concessions are “cash only.” allamericanmelodrama.com.
