Felton, Calif.–Roaring Camp Railroad is situated in its very own forest of Coastal Redwood trees in Santa Cruz County. On the new Rain Forest Weekends held January 2 through March 28, 2010, visitors can ride the train and travel through the redwoods just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean to learn about the forest ecosystem. This is the most dramatic time to examine the rain forest at eye level as you ride on historic train, enjoying the scent of California bay laurel and tan oak, according to Roaring Camp CEO Georgiana Clark.
Storms whip branches, foliage glistens, and the virgin forest provides a shaded setting that creates a one-of-a-kind experience only nature can provide. Redwood trees in California are some of the biggest, tallest and oldest trees in the world.
