The New Yorker Magazine Recognizes Huntington Beach Bakery
Posted by: Beach Reporter In: california| dining
NEW YORK–A Huntington Beach business is the only bakery outside of Chicago and New York to be recognized by The New Yorker Magazine for its Baumkuchen (tree cakes). The Cake Box in Warner Dale Square (Springdale and Warner) was lauded as part of an extensive feature story on “Spit Cake–It’s so much better than it sounds.” The fascinating story talks about the “spit-baking method” that has made Baumkuchen famous. Cake Box Master Chef Paul Gauweiler told us he has the only Baumkuchen spit-baking machine west of the Mississippi River. He recently made an amazing, huge tree cake that sold in pieces quickly. Not only has his pastry skills drawn the attention of The New Yorker Food Editors but he gets calls from all over to create the delicious cakes that are featured at weddings and stately gatherings. The unusual cakes have been made in Germany and England for hundreds of years. To find out more, look at cakeboxpastries.com. There is a 10% discount coupon for purchase of pastries and cakes at the bakery on huntingtonbeachcoupon.com. Congratulations, Paul!
