Where are there Beach BBQ Grills in Southern California?

Posted by: Beach Reporter In: beaches| california| travel

When searching for the beach party, sometimes you want to do more than just roast marshmallows over a bonfire in one of the permitted bonfire rings.

When cookings “the thing”, you will be glad to know that Southern California offers a variety of opportunities to cook a meal at the beach.

One of my the coolest locations and options is in Oceanside where a set of beautiful palm trees frame picnic tables overlooking the beach on the north side of Oceanside Pier.  It’s one of the most beautiful places to sit and enjoy the beach while cooking your chicken, ribs, roasting your corn and sizzling the hot dogs till they’re slightly puffy. Oceanside is located in north San Diego County. Make it a weekend vacation or overnight stay at the beautiful Wyndham Hotel overlooking the beach. There are some amazing prices right now.

Next stop heading north of that is Dana Point, where you’ll find plenty of barbeque cooking at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point. There’s ample parking charged for a fee. Volleyball nets and public restrooms are next to the courts.

In Laguna Beach, many favor Heisler Park, a bluff top paved park area accessed by some steps or ramps. It has picnic tables and cooking grills in a commons area, overlooking the Pacific Ocean that seems especially blue in Laguna Beach. You’ll also find BBQ grills in Newport Beach, Corona del Mar State Beach, Huntington State Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach. As you drive north into Los Angeles, San Pedro’s Cabrillo Beach is a real neighborhood hangout for barbeques. The local families spend long afternoons in old world style, eating, socializing, and cooking on the grill next to a huge green lawn, the Cabrillo Aquarium, and Cabrillo Beach. San Pedro is located in Los Angeles and is known for the Port of LA (you can’t miss it from Cabrillo Beach!)
