Just a reminder to set your clocks back an hour on Saturday Evening for daylight savings.

  • Volunteers are needed to help water the Urban Forest which is in Huntington Beach off of Ellis Avenue between Goldenwest And Edwards. Materials and Training are Provided. Contact Jean Nagy President Of The Huntington Beach Tree Society For Information at: (714) 564-1396.

Here are some events for your review:

Friday Oct. 30:

  • From 4PM to 7PM At Bella Terra Mall in Huntington Beach - The merchants are doing Trick Or Treat early for those who dress in costume and visit their store or restaurant. You must be accompinied by a parent/guardian. While supplies stay.

Saturday Oct. 31:

  • 2009 SOUTHLAND SENIOR OLYMPICS SURFING Competition For Men & Women 50 Years +First heat starts at 7:30am. Huntington Beach South of the Pier. Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street in Huntington Beach.

Judging Criteria:
“A surfer must execute the most radical controlled maneuvers in the critical section of a wave with speed and power throughout. The surfer who executes such maneuvers on the biggest and or best waves for the longest functional distance shall be given higher scores.”

  • At The Bella Terra Mall in Huntington Beach from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. There’s a Halloween Costume Contest co-sponsored from The City Of Huntington Beach Community Services Department. Goody Bags are given to the first 200 contestants. Prizes for costumes shall be given to kids from ages 0-3, 4-6 and 7-14. The registration and preliminary judging is from 11:30AM to 1:00PM. Final judging times 0-3 Years at 1:00PM, 4-6 Years at 1;15PM and 7-14 Years at 1:30PM. If you have questions please call: (714) 536-5486. You can also click on: bellaterra-hb.com .
  • Downtown Huntington Beach BID Organization  HALLOWEEN FEST!!! Huntington Beach, 08/25/09 – Surf’s Up in Downtown Huntington Beach, Surf City, USA! Come join us for Halloween on Saturday, October 31st for this family fun event from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Entry to the event is free, and over 1 0,000 guests are expected. Parts of Downtown will be closed to traffic for the Halloween Fest. There will be games / activity booths sponsored by local Non-Profits, City Departments, BID Members and others. Children’s activities sponsored by BounceU.com of Huntington Beach (the newest and largest private children’s party center specializing in open bounces, structured playgroups and camps); Mobile Video Games sponsored by Games2U.com (a climate controlled, state-of-the-art Mobile Video Game Theater, with the latest and greatest video games available simultaneously; Game Truck, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, a library of over 50 current video games; face painting, Halloween music provided my Foul Owl Productions, and more! Everyone will enjoy seeing Surf City’s Antique Fire Truck. Many of the Downtown businesses will be competing for the “Best Decorated Window” Display, and handing out free candy to children (12 & under). There will also be special discounts, sales and restaurant specials. Costume contests will be held for children up to age 12. There will also be a costume contest for dogs of all ages and sizes! Prior to the competition, everyone will be led by, Dean Torrence, the “Monster of Ceremonies” in a small parade to the competition. And to top it all off, there will be a family-friendly HAUNTED HOUSE!!! Michael Moroneso, the Chair for the BID Ambassadors overseeing all the Halloween Fest Task Force Leaders, and Manger of Surf City Harley-Davidson on Main Street said of the event, “It is a privilege to work with the BID to serve the community and help bring success to downtown.”
