Are you a California marathon runner? If so, you are probably way ahead of us in knowing the schedule and dates of the 2010 marathon runs that we are posting to our calendar. The variety of landscapes for the marathons is amazing, running from scenic beach courses to the giant redwood forests. To date we’ve found around 10 marathons that skirt or take place along the Pacific in beach cities ranging from San Diego to San Francisco. The beach marathons include: San Diego, Carlsbad, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, San Pedro, Catalina Island, Carmel, Aptos, San Francisco and Sausalito.
For runners, California is the ideal place to participate in a marathon, thanks to the weather conditions that are normally quite mild. Add to that great destinations where you can stay, and you have yourself one of the finest opportunities to run with thousands of others who will spur you on and help you only get better. Family members like to attend, and volunteers often come to pitch in.
