Make Time for a SLO Halloween

On Nov. 1 at 2 a.m. (or some say Halloween night after midnight) as the clock falls back an hour for daylight savings, make time to have fun in San Luis Obispo County, also known for its SLO ways. Here are a few things happening on Sat. Oct. 31, 2009.

Pumpkins on the Pier in Pismo Beach. The special Halloween celebration, “Pumpkins on the Pier,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pismo Beach Pier. A Trick or Treat Extravaganza will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in local downtown businesses. If it rains, the event will be held at the Shell Beach Veteran’s Memorial Building, 230 Leeward Street. Children 12 and under can participate in a pumpkin decorating, crafts, bounce house, and carnival games. The City of Pismo Beach Recreation Division and the Pismo Beach Business Improvement Group (B.I.G.) sponsor this event. It is offered free to the community. Eberle Winery’s Haunted Caves from 4pm – 8pm. Come if you dare and venture through Eberle Winery’s Haunted Caves! Decorated and lit by a team of professionals, our 16,000 square feet of underground caves turn into one of the spookiest tickets in town. Brave souls 10 and older are recommended for this Halloween fun, but there will be plenty of games for the little ones above ground as well. A $5 donation to D.R.E.A.M for Kids Foundation goes directly to the Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County, which dresses children in K-6 through their Operation School Bell program. It’s a great cause and a lot of fun! (Parents, the Tasting Room will be open for complimentary wine tasting as well!

Safe & Fun Halloween in Paso Robles from 4pm to 7pm in downtown.  Trick or Treating - Free Photo with the Witches - 4 - 7 pm (12th & Park Street) Barbecue - 4 - 7 pm (City Park Benefiting Historical Society) Pumpkin Carving Contest 6 pm City Park Foundation Source: pasoroblesdowntown.org

San Miguel Haunted House from 5pm – 9pm.  San Miguel Community Center, 256 13th St. , San Miguel Free

Arroyo Grande  ‘Descent Into Terror at 7pm – Sun, November 1, 12am. 250 Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande. ‘Descent Into Terror’ is located at 250 Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande, next to Mullahey Ford. The haunted house is open from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. tongiht, Friday and Saturday, and 7 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 29, 30 and 31. Admission is $13.

The Ravine Scare Park in Paso Robles from  7pm – 11pm. The Ravine Water Park in Paso Robles will transform into a Scare Park. The haunting includes scare zones, mazes and live monsters that could make your skin crawl. Some areas may not be suitable for young children. Cost: $15. ravinewaterpark.com
