Solar Intersections 70 Foot Poles Reflect Light in Davis, CA

When you visit a town or city in California, if you poke around you’ll usually find some public art installation, statue, or tribute that locals have come to ignore or point to proudly as part of what their place is about. There are very few towns where I haven’t discovered at least something to hang a hat on when passing through and searching for photo ops.
Then there are places that have attractions and art I can recommend going out of your way to see. Davis, California, home to the University of California Davis, is one such place where I’d go back to look at Solar Intersections, by Robert Behrens.
Located near the city’s intermodal where trains arrive at the station, and college students hop off with their bicycles, their primary form of transportation, Solar Intersections is a shiny welcome. When the sunlight reflects of the solar panels, irridescent colors of the rainbow form. It’s like arriving at the Land of Oz. If you move one way the color changes.
